Day 58 of 365

Time for some farm photos —
Cows on the turnips - actually just about to be moved to their paddock of grass.
(The rest of the herd is already heading out the gate, a few linger trying to get the last few rations!)
Just have one more feed/day of turnips left, the last of our summer crop.
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

See you tomorrow,

Days 51 and 52 of 365

Me and my boy. Obviously I didn't take this photo.
Two poignant photos for me; Out to dinner with our son and friends. Half hour after this photo I had to say goodbye to him - don't know when we will see him again.
Second photo is of Dad's camera which Mum gave me a little while ago. My little one was playing up (actually I discovered it was only flat batteries making it do silly things!)..... Typical Dad, about 4 sets of rechargeable batteries, lots of memory cards, telephone numbers on the instruction book and everything packed very methodically away in cases and a bag.
First challenge - how to turn it on!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 44 of 365

You were asking about the Totara berries.
They are very sweet and very juicy - but see how tiny they are (that's my wedding ring) so we don't do
anything with them - the birds love them though!
I cant find any reference to them being used as a food in days gone by either (the tree was valued for its timber).
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 43 of 365

I'm cheating tonight as I took this photo yesterday...but read on....
This is what happens when I climb over the fence to take photos,
the dog waits for me in the race (the track) and the cows don't want to walk past to get to their fresh paddock!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn

Day 42 of 365

Take a closer look....
...at the Totara
You don't really notice, but at this time of the year......
...It has these tiny little berries.
Actually, I just found out these are called 'fleshy cones' and the
strange looking green knobs contain seeds!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 37 of 365

A Pig Tale
Cant have one picture without the others.....
Out at the runoff we have finally lured Ralph into a trap (using a trail of maize and corn cobs).
See Day 14 *here*.
After a 3 kilometre trip along the (burnt) track he arrives at his new home.

"Meet your new friends...when we think you are ready, we'll let you out into the paddock."
By the way, we have discovered that Ralph is actually Ralphee, or Ralphette, or Ralpha!
(Whatever the female version of Ralph is!!!)
We have become quite attached to this little pig who lived with the cattle, however we have a lot of hunters come through as pigs do a lot of damage. We decided to give this little one a second chance - and a life of luxury in our orchard.
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 36 of 365

The sky seems to go on forever tonight, and the light shining through the clouds
was fascinating!
(And looked even better through the camera lens than it did in person!!!)
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Raewyn.

Taking some cows we have dried off (stopped milking) out the back. Usually I  love to take these photos, following the cows along the track edged with lovely green bush! A stark contrast!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Found Treasures
Found this while tidying out a wardrobe today.
She came from my hubby's grandmother's...not sure of her age but she
is pretty old. I would say these are the original clothes :-)
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn
