Woot woot last milking of the season.
Drying off the herd so the cows can have a holiday over the winter before they start calving again in 6 weeks time.
Each cow has a tube of 'stuff' inserted in each teat - either a waxy gel that seals the teat so that mud and infection can't get in over the winter OR some long acting antibiotic if they've had mastitis or been identified as having more 'germ cells' than they should (through the annual herd test).
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn
That does not sound very pleasant! But I suppose they don't notice. xx
ReplyDeleteThat would take some time to do but a must to keep the cows healthy .
