Day 181 of 2020

Lift-off!
There's to be more recovery planting in the reserve next door. The easiest way to get the plants in is by helicopter so one of our front paddocks was taken over for an hour or so.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

A Gandad and his youngest grandson

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 177 of 2020

The tractor was running, stirring the effluent pond.
When I turned it off, I sat up on the seat and took in the view.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 176 of 2020

Oh those eyes and their markings!
Not seeing as many Silver eyes around at the moment - the fruit is safe - maybe it's cooled off a little too much for them?

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 175 of 2020

Lunch time.
Good little Kiwi Marmite kids!!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 174 of 2020

The chickens have progressed from a cat cage to a big box.
This was literally 5 minutes after I completely changed the papers and 'bedding' (and cleaned out the water bowl).
Sigh!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 173 of 2020

One thing leads to another.
Part of the orchard has now become our section.
Swings have to go with forts.
The area's become quite a quagmire so sorting that is the next job on the list!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 171 of 2020

Only photos I took today were on ED's phone for her when I called in to say hello on my way home from work.
She shared this on her FB so here it is too!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 170 of 2020

The next batch of chickens have arrived - I buy 2 week olds from the petshop which are guaranteed female.
Not completely happy about getting them now because of the winter conditions but lockdown meant I couldn't get them earlier.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 169 of 2020

The 'C' word is starting to turn up in far too many conversations.
We've drafted out the late Calvers to go out the back for a few months to take the pressure off the feed on the main farm. We'll be needing it for the earlier Calvers.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 168 of 2020

Baby sitting this evening.
Two small children playing side by side.
Two very different styles of play.
One, family play with the Lego/Duplo people (and a horse); the other, play with the cars and the tongs to transfer the wheat bags from one container to another.
Amazing how these different (gender) interests show up so young.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 167 of 2020

The Tui love these Flame trees for their early morning breakfast.
I counted at least six high up in the branches.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 166 of 2020

I'll try not to show any more fort photos for a bit, but here it is getting a bit of a test run.
Still needs more work on it - blocking off a couple of gaps for now, and sourcing a slide, etc.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 165 of 2020

Odie watching his Dad work on his new fort.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 164 of 2020

A lovely sunrise on my morning walk.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 163 of 2020

Here one minute —
Here the next —
Playcentre's rejected fort has come to our place.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 162 of 2020

A milestone today with this fellow coming to play at Ganma's without his mum or dad.
His sisters were here; they made most of the mess....

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 161 of 2020

A hole has appeared in the middle of a big bale of hay down near the chookshed. The chickens have beautiful nesting boxes and a newly mended fence but.......

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 160 of 2020

In appproximately 6 weeks these heifers will start calving. As they will be first timers, we're taking some time to run them through the shed so they get used to the concept. They've not been on concrete since they were 8 weeks old so it's all a bit spooky.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 159 of 2020

Happy 'calves' (born August'19).

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 156 of 2020

Double trouble.
The two sets of twins at Playcentre.

See you next time,
Raewyn.

Day 155 of 2020

Another Silver-eye pic. So pretty.
I never realised how long their beaks were.
Perfect for destroying my mandarins! (Karen was asking.)
After a good dig at the fruit they wipe their beak on a stalk, which is what the bird in the top
photo was partway through doing when I snapped him.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 154 of 2020

I went for a stroll in the bush area down by the stream. I don't often go there at this time of the year but love it in the summertime.
Interesting to explore it through different eyes!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 153 of 2020

Finally some rain, and enough to make the river come up!
We tallied 192 mls for the month of May which is the most rain for a month since Feb 2018.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
