Day 365 of 365!!

I made it!!
I intended to finish with a stunning photo but my day flew by far too quickly and this simple one is what I have.
However I do think it's a pretty wee photo :-)
Here I am on the last day of the year with my last photo for this year's challenge!!
Thank you for your company throughout the year. Once again I have enjoyed it but am looking forward to a little break from the daily post and the challenge to produce a photo every day!
Just as I've enjoyed learning about you and your country through your blogs, I hope you have enjoyed the little insight into my kiwi farming life.
I intend to carry on with posting photos - but not every day. Just as the urge happens.
Happy New Year everyone!
I won't...
...see you tomorrow!
Raewyn.

The same beautiful beach at Taipa. I've been trying to get a good photo of the red Pohutakawa trees but cant capture their magnificent beauty!
This is the best one I got, at Kaikohe, but it doesn't really show the small town off very well!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 361 of 365

DH has been dragged into a new world. Up till now the most technology he has used has been the hand held calculator. Now he has an Ipod and an App (!!) (Spotify) for music to listen to while milking the cows.
The things that happen when the younger generation come to stay!!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

You know the saying, "Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink"?
Well for us it is "Pinetrees pinetrees everywhere and not a Christmas one in sight!"
Too tall, too scraggly, too burnt, too inaccessible......
-keep trying-
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

It's always sad to see a fallen bird's nest... but alos fun to see what it is made of...sheep's wool, cow's hair, moss, seed head.....
... and even a red thread!!
I know some people scatter some of their sewing room scraps out for the birds but I never think of it!

The annual district bike ride; fundraiser event for the local primary school.
(Yes you can tell this section is through our place, with the burnt bush and the new fence!)
About 280 riders, about 30 kms long, through about 6 properties, takes them about an hour to get around the course.
Spot the sharp bend, they really had to slow down for that one!

Day 322 of 365

Remember last week when the bee man made a start on a track up through the bush?
Today a bulldozer came out to do more work on it.
As you can see, he didn't get very far... oh dear.
I think a bigger digger is needed to pull him out!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 321 of 365

I don't normally post photos of things I don't like (read detest) but have decided to make an exception and put this photo up. In NZ we don't have many big pests (no foxes, cougars or other varmints!) but the Possom is a real menace in our forests eating native birds' eggs and browsing and destroying the trees.
This young marsupial must have left Mum and has found a home in an old barn. Of course the dog was very interested.
In spite of all the bush around us we don't have as many possoms as we could have but to me, one possom is one possom too many!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 320 of 365

I always think these Heron are out of place on farmland but they are pretty common!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
