Day 272 of 2020
A rural scene.
Calves with full tummies sort of following the milk feeder up the hill.
(Chasing me out of the paddock.)
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 270 of 2020
It's not just the small kiddies who are enjoying the playground.
(And no, although farmdog Emma did it once, J couldn't really get the dogs to slide down the slide!)
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
Day 269 of 2020
A farm along the road often has peacocks in one of the paddocks. (I've counted well over a dozen at times.) It's surrounded by bush so they have somewhere to run and hide. Which is what they did as soon as I stopped the car to try and get a photo.
Hence the blurred shot, on full zoom!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
Day 268 of 2020
So hard to find a flat place to park the feeder!
I don't often use this paddock. Won't be in a hurry to use it again :-)
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 265 of 2020
When husbands have too much time on their hands!
I'd washed Carebear so it could be mended and handed back to ED.
Made by my aunty for her 32 years ago..!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
Day 263 of 2020
The MOML insisted I take this photo to show how long the grass is here in this paddock!
It was badly affected by the drought and crickets and he had to re-drill it twice.
The perennial grass mix we usually use was all sold out so we had to buy annual species.
We're enjoying it now but it will be interesting to see how long into the season it lasts!
PS See the calf sleeping towards the right of the photo?!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

In the Pou paddock.
Carved for us by a neighbour 3 years ago.

Day 258 of 2020
Three 'baby' chickens going to their new home.
(I raised three extra for the next door family.)
(This is the next door family ♥)

Day 256 of 2020
Today was the day to bring home some of the late calvers as their calving dates are getting closer.
Oops we were a day or two late for one of them.
This calf was trussed up and had a comfy ride home.

Day 250 of 2020
Counting the calves for me.
They got to 38. There should have been 39. There were.
(Pretty good counting though!)

Day 244 of 2020
Finally the little chooks have been let out into the chook yard. The older ones were shut out so these could relax and explore.
I dismantled the thatch roof which became a good source of entertainment.
See you tomorrow,
Day 243 of 2020
This calf has an Angus sire so should have been born all black. That family gene is pretty strong!
Day 241 of 2020
Day 239 of 2020
From a distance, it looked like a graveyard of chicken bodies, but up close, it's just all the girls burrowing into the shed floor for their daily dust bath.

Day 237 of 2020
I decided it was high time the 'baby chickens' came out of Fort Knox and got into the real world. Growing too big to be caged up. So I put together a cage in the hen yard to start the transition.
What has slowed this process down has been the continual rain. Sure enough, although the day started off well, heavy rain was forecast. I thought a thatched roof might work well to protect them, since they haven't been out in the big wide world before.
Great idea, they were very cosy!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
Day 236 of 2020
Happy Cows.
