Day 233 of 2020

Some of the gang heading over for a feed!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 232 of 2020

"Red sky in morning,
Shepherd's warning.
Red sky at night,
Shepherd's delight"
Inspite of the promise, it did rain - again!
But a lovely way to end the day!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 231 of 2020

Things you don't want to see from the deck —
Part C; wild pigs digging up the paddocks.

There's a whole family of them up there - our son went up and could hear the piglets snuffling in the bush, but couldn't see a thing. And couldn't get too close as a cross mama pig is not to be trifled with.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 230 of 2020

Things you don't want to see from the deck —
Part B; the river.
Everything is so waterlogged now, it only takes a couple of inches of rain to make the river flood.
Luckily it didn't get any higher than this so it didn't spill over onto the pastures.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 229 of 2020

Things you don't want to see from the deck —
Part A; Silver-eyes at the bananas.
Time to pick this bunch.
(They had started splitting too- nice and fat.)

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 228 of 2020

Every morning when I walk around the calving mob to identify the new mums and their calves, this cow always comes up to me and licks my leggings.
I'll miss her when she calves and isn't in this mob!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 227 of 2020

Learning the ropes.
Next year they'll be able to rear the calves for me 😁

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 226 of 2020

(After a brief interlude, it's catch up time again)

And now they've been let out into a bigger paddock.
More joy!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

There's always one!
George entertaining the troops instead of lining up for a photo with his cousins!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 224 of 2020

Just sitting around.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 223 of 2020

Day 222 of 2020

I opened the gate so the oldest calves could get out into the 'calf paddock' - it's still muddy from when I had the horses in it when their paddocks flooded but it gave the calves a good chance to have a bit of a run around. I always love watching those first runs (I'm sure I've said that before!).

After a fun runaround they rested and enjoyed the sun —

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Odie's first introduction to the calves.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 220 of 2020

It helped that the doglet was wearing his stripey jumper when I was trying to find him.
Sniffing out something interesting down the end of the paddock.

See you tomorrow
Raewyn.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 216 of 2020

As the number of calves rise, the calf shed gets full so they go elsewhere. Then there's lots of carting milk around from one place to the next.
Katie-Cat doesn't mind the door-to-door delivery.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 215 of 2020

It's sights like this that make me love this time of the year - as long as it's fine!!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 214 of 2020

Lily very brave with the calves!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 213 of 2020

These chicks have really grown. About 2 months old now and in the gangly teenager stage.
Still in their Fort Knox cage which has been cosy and safe!

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 212 of 2020

Katie-Cat has found a lovely spot for sleeping - in the bag of calf-bed shavings.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 211 of 2020

A bit of colour - and fragrance - in the garden.
Delightful.

See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.
