Day 364 of 365

Recovery day!!!!!
10.41 pm and this is what my bed looks like - where will I sleep tonight??!!
A quiet day spent catching our breath after living on adrenaline and fibre (hehe) alone for the last 5 days. I was still in my nightie at 2pm this afternoon, however that was 8am NZ time so I hope I am forgiven!!!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 363 of 365

Walking about in Paducah
Whilst out shopping in the beautiful town of Paducah, we walked the length of the mural wall which edges the river. It protects the town from serious flooding (hopefully only 1 in 100 year ones). Each section of the wall was painted with a relevant picture...very beautiful and interesting.
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 357 of 365

Nashville was known as the "Athens of the South" until it became more recently known
as Music City
An exact replica of the original Greek temple, the Parthenon, which no longer looks anything like this, having been badly damaged over the centuries.
The original Athena (the goddess of wisdom) statue no longer exists. This is over 40 feet tall and is gilded and painted with 8 pounds of 23.75 carat gold!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Day 345 of 365

'Mustering' one calf out of the bush today. He knew the area better than us and wouldn't be herded out... we had to cut the fence and hope he comes out by himself soon!
Ponga in the bush.
The decorative trees seen here.
The Ponga is also known as the Silver Fern - which, along with the Kiwi, has become a
symbol of New Zealand.
Underside of the leaves.
Young Tanekaha...I love their bark at this time of the year.
You may, or may not, have noticed that I had a mishap with my numbering... way back in December I skipped ahead 10 days at once. When I announced only 20 days to go 10 days ago, I was wrong!!!
Today there now only 20 days to go!!!
See you tomorrow,
Raewyn.

Farm Work.
'Smoko' in the fields.
The modern-day farmer's wife offers bottled fruit juice and packaged cookies rather than the scones with jam and cream and a thermos of sweet tea of yesteryear!
(Besides, she spent all day in town so home baking was not on the menu!)
Drilling a paddock with new grass seed after spraying out the old grasses.
See you tomorrow,
